Hi from Charles.
So it has been a little while since the last update and we have all been busy. I started work late September, within a few days of the date of my first job that I got in Atlanta back in 2007. Working at Southern Company which owns various power companies so now when I pay my electricity bill I am actually paying part of my salary. Job is okay but a little low key after the banking industry so I am trying hard to adjust my work pace.
When I am not working it seems like I am on scout trips with S. Recently we went Indian Canoeing on class 1 & 2 rapids on the Flint River - 2 hours south of Atlanta close to Thomastown at the Flint River Outdoor center. Took us about 2.5 hours to cover 5 miles. Great dry weather and all had fun. No kids got wet in the canoes but 2 adults did. Campsite we stayed at was a little bit redneck with the Rebel flag hanging and lots of scrap vehicles all over the place. Lots of fun was had by all. Was a little chilly at night but I had brought my outdoor blankets and threw one over my head to keep me warm while I was in my sleeping bag and gave the other to S.
A month prior to the canoeing S and I had gone on a 2 night scout camp trip in the pouring rain. S had tried out a new tent during the rain but it leaked so he is onto another new tent now that has a complete rain fly and we hope that will work better. Also just bought us 2 fleece blankets to put inside our sleeping bags to help keep us warm as some people use liners to make their bags warmer. Next weekend S will go on a shooting camp but this time I plan to stay home.
Diane and B having been having lots of girl time when S and I are away and even when I'm away they manage to get S on some form of retreat so they can have the weekend to themselves. Just been introducing B to electronics and she has been having lots of fun building projects with a kit I have. Last night she made a chirping bird sound and also a game where you blow into a ear piece and see if you can make the led lights turn off. In time I will explain all the components she is using so that she can ad lib.
Diane is studying hard again with late nights here and there. In January she will sit the Ords. This coming weekend she is going on a preaching trip so the kids and I will have some time together. On Saturday we are supposed to be putting flags on all the veterans grave sites at the local cemetry as part of a scout service project. In addition, the popcorn that S sold thru scouts will be coming in so we will have to start delivering that. At least this year I am not the person in charge so I will not end up with a bunch of popcorn in my house like last year. My biggest fear was a fire in the apartment as burnt popcorn smells real bad.
Been working to keep the cars on the road. Diane's honda door locks and windows stopped working, solution was to set the wiper to intermittent and turn on the ignition for 10 seconds then turn it off - so obvious that it is hard to see why it took me so long to figure out the fix :) . With all the computers in cars nowadays they are getting harder to fix.
Sad news last month was the passing of my Uncle Seamus. Fortunately I was able to get a flight at short notice and go visit the family in Wales where he had retired to. Flew out Wednesday evening and came back Sunday so a little bit jet lagged to say the least.
Well that is it for just now, I will remind Diane to try and put an update together for you all.
